Getting Your Top Ready For Quilting
1. Quilting is in three layers - backing, batting, and top.
2. Bring all three layers without pins or basting.
3. Backing and batting need to be at least 4" larger
then the top on all four sides. After quilting is
completed we will trim off excess material as
discussed during the consultation, e.g., no trim, one
inch from the top edges.
4. Be sure to trim loose threads from your top and backing
as they may show through. Be sure your quilt top is as
square as possible.
5. Quilt top should have no firm decorations, such as
buttons, bows, or ribbons.
6. Please mark the top left corner of your quilt with a
safety pin to be sure of proper positioning on longarm.
7. Backing should be sewn selvage to selvage, which is
horizontal, when possible.
8. Quilt tops that lay flat will quilt nicely. Please check
your quilt top for fullness and irregular seams as these
may cause pleats in your quilt that cannot be quilted out.
9. You may provide batting or purchase from Phantom
Quilters at a predetermined price.
